Girl group NewJeans will perform at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards on May 6, becoming the second K-pop female act to receive an award and perform for the awards ceremony after Twice.
NewJeans has been named as the Group of the Year at the Billboard’s annual celebration of iconic women in the music industry around the world, after landing its first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart last year with “Get Up” (2023).
The quintet also landed five tracks — “OMG” (2023), “Ditto” (2022), “Super Shy” (2023), “ETA” (2023) and “Cool With You” (2023) — on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
NewJeans performed at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) last year, becoming the first K-pop girl group to do so.
The K-pop girl group has been named along with some of the biggest names of this year: Karol G as the Woman of the Year; Kylie Minogue for the Icon Award; Maren Morris for the Visionary Award; Ice Spice for the Hitmaker Award; Charli XCX for the Powerhouse Award; Young Miko for the Impact Award presented by American Express; Victoria Monét for the Rising Star award presented by Honda; TEMS for the Breakthrough Award; and Luísa Sonza for one of Billboard’s new Global Force Awards.
