A Korean-American man in his 40s has committed suicide by jumping onto a railroad track.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, Sungho Kim, aged 49, was found deceased near the railroad crossing at South Myrtle Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Monrovia at approximately 8:05 p.m. on February 4.
The Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has ruled Kim’s death as a suicide. The coroner’s office stated that Kim died from blunt force injuries consistent with a suicide attempt.
LA Metro Media Relations reported that Kim jumped onto the tracks as a train was approaching Monrovia Station. The reasons behind Kim’s decision to take his own life remain unknown.
The incident is currently under investigation by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
