Seattle Christmas Day shooting victim identified as Korean American in his 30s

The victim of a shooting in Seattle on Christmas Day has been identified as a Korean American.

According to Seattle police, officers received a report of shots fired around 5 p.m. on December 25 at an apartment near the University of Washington’s Seattle campus.

Upon arrival, police found a man lying on the fifth floor of the apartment suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as Corey Woo Seong Roe, aged 37.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.

Witnesses told Fox 13 that the suspect and the victim, who were neighbors in the apartment building, had an altercation just before the shooting.

Fox 13 reported that the man who was shot had threatened and charged at a woman’s partner, forcing him to defend himself.

Police are currently investigating to determine the details of the incident.

Meanwhile, the total number of homicides in Seattle last year was 73, the highest in the past 40 years, according to police.
