For the upcoming holiday season, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will conduct a major DUI crackdown with “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Enforcement Campaign.

The LAPD announced in a recent press briefing that it will conduct citywide DUI crackdowns and patrols leading up to New Year’s Day, January 1, in anticipation of the end-of-year drunk and drugged driving (DUI) enforcement efforts.

The LAPD announced specific enforcement dates, including a DUI patrol in the Hollywood area on December 20 from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

On Thursday, December 21, from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., patrols will be conducted in the Central Bureau, including Newton, Northeast, and Rampart, with DUI checkpoints and enforcement at Pacific Coast Highway and Figueroa Street from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. that same day.

On Friday, December 22, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., enforcement will also be conducted at Figueroa Street and 9th Street.

On Saturday, December 23, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Van Nuys Boulevard; on the same day from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in South Bureau, Harbor and 77th streets; and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Western Avenue and Venice Boulevard.

Thursday, December 28, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Huntington Drive and Pueblo Street, and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Marylee Street.

Friday, December 29, from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. in the Central Bureau, and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Victory Boulevard and Babcock Avenue, Slauson Avenue and Hoover Street, and Sunset Boulevard and Orange Grove Avenue.

On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., at La Cienega Boulevard and Sawyer Street.

“The holiday season can be a dangerous time for people on the roads. In December 2021 alone, 1,013 people were killed in the United States in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” said LAPD.  “The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) wants to remind the public of the dangers of driving impaired and celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving under the influence.”
