Student performers from South Korea will take stage at Hollywood High School. After the event, they will participate in the Global English Leadership Camp at Loyola Marymount University.
On August 24, winners of the English speech contest and performing arts contest, organized by the World Association for Arts Exchange Organization— a South Korean non-profit organization — visited the Korea Daily. They will showcase Korean culture through various programs such as art exhibitions, music and dance performances, and speeches at Hollywood High School until August 31.
Selected for their exemplary skills, these 49 student performers were selected from a pool of about 4,000 students, excelling in art contests, ballet competitions, and English speaking events.
Koo Imsoo, president of the World Association for Arts Exchange Organization, remarked, “This is a prime opportunity to introduce Korea to American students, and a special time for our camp members to bolster their confidence and leadership skills.”
Kim Gyuri from Mangwol Elementary School, a leadership camp attendee, shared, “I believe this visit to LA will offer a memorable experience as we immerse in a new culture.”
Expressing her excitement, Kim Riha from Saesol Elementary School, who will be performing ballet in the U.S. for the first time, said, “I’ve been practicing five times a week for this event. With so many esteemed institutions here, I’m also keen on pursuing my studies in the U.S.”
The event, spearheaded by the World Association for Arts Exchange Organization, commenced in 1993, fostering civilian exchanges between South Korea and the United States. This marks the 40th performance by the organization in America.
