Evette Kim, a Korean American aide to LA’s 10th District Councilwoman Heather Hutt, is eagerly participating in the “Love Share Marathon” to champion nonprofit organizations. Kim, whose dedication to the community of Koreatown is well-known, encouraged residents saying, “Serving the community is rewarding. For any assistance from the 10th Council District office, please feel free to contact me.”
Passionate and forthright about her commitment to the Korean American community, Kim has openly shared her office phone number to ensure easy accessibility for anyone needing assistance.
Kim’s journey with the 10th District began in March of last year. Before joining Councilmember Hutt’s team, she dedicated two years, starting in 2017, to California State Senator Anthony Portantino. She also collaborated with the Los Angeles City Registrar of Voters, translating election materials into Korean and enhancing outreach for the Korean American community.
“Working at Councilmember Hutt’s office allows me to serve the Korean American community directly,” Kim reflects. Despite the initial adjustments, Kim is now deeply integrated into her role, staying updated with Koreatown’s news and projects.
She also expresses enthusiasm for the upcoming “LOVE Share 5K/10K run/walk,” scheduled for September 17, organized by the Korea Daily’s Happy Village. The 10th annual event, under the theme “Stop the Hate & Share the Love with the Community,” promotes unity by inviting diverse ethnic backgrounds to join. It’s also a celebration of the Korea Daily’s 49th anniversary, promising more attractions and generous gifts. As always, the proceeds aim to support schools and various nonprofit service organizations.
A native of Fullerton, Orange County, Kim is an alumnus of Sunny Hills High School and Chapman University, where she pursued dual majors in political science and chemistry. Kim’s dedication to service also extends to her country; she enlisted in the U.S. Army during her junior year and continues to serve in the reserves.
Balancing her roles, Kim states, “Monthly training is tough yet invigorating. My duty is to uplift the Korean American community. Should you face issues ranging from garbage disposal to homelessness and hesitate to report them in English, reach out to me directly. I’m here to assist.”
