In the evening of August 17, the LA Dodgers celebrated their ‘Annual Korean Heritage Night’.

Each year, the LA Dodgers host a unique event to showcase and celebrate national values and traditions. This year, August 17 marked a day for those of Korean descent, as well as the general fanbase of the LA Dodgers, to come together and celebrate their shared sense of national pride.

From the outset, Dodger Stadium rolled out the welcome mat, prominently displaying ‘Korean Heritage Night’ signs both inside and outside the venue.

Many Korean Americans, along with ardent Dodgers fans, flocked to the stadium to capture memories and revel in the unity of national values. All the event comers received exclusive LA Dodgers jersey, specially crafted for the Korean Heritage Night, and took memorable photos.

The occasion was further elevated with performances deeply rooted in Korean culture. Prior to the game, the performers showcased the traditional Korean Fan Dance.

In a heartwarming gesture just before the game’s kickoff at 7:10 p.m., two Korean American singers graced the pitch, harmonizing the melodies of the Korean national anthem, “Aegukga,” and the United States’ national anthem, “Star-Spangled Banner.”

The spectators, standing as one, directed their gazes to the flag, hands over their hearts. A palpable wave of emotion, a shared love for both their countries, washed over the stadium. To heighten the festivity, the LA Dodgers broadcasted a video featuring their newly signed Korean player, Hyun-seok Jang, emphasizing his significance not only to the team but also to the Korean and Korean American fans.

Fans departed the stadium with elation, as the LA Dodgers clinched another victory, edging out the Milwaukee Brewers 1:0. “It’s heartwarming to bond with fellow Koreans at this event, and the victory over the Brewers is just the cherry on top,” said William Kong, a 23-year-old Korean American who watched the game.
