BTS’s Jungkook tops charts with solo single ‘Seven’

“Seven,” released by BTS’s Jungkook, is taking the world by storm.

“Seven (Clean Ver.),” one of the three tracks on Jungkook’s first official solo single which dropped last Friday, landed straight on top of Japan’s Oricon weekly digital single ranking on Wednesday, after staying atop Oricon’s daily digital single ranking on both Friday and Saturday. The single recorded 24,996 weekly downloads from July 10-17 according to the Japanese music statistics company.

The single includes three total tracks: “Seven (Clean Ver.),” “Seven (Explicit Ver.)” and an instrumental version of the same song.

“Seven” also stayed on Spotify’s No. 1 daily top song globally as of Monday, U.S. time, with 12.79 million daily streams. The song held the top position for four days in a row since it landed No. 1 on the chart last Friday with 1.5 million daily streams, the highest number for a song debuting on the Daily Top Song Global chart, according to Spotify.

Before “Seven,” Jungkook released two self-produced songs on SoundCloud, “Still With You” (2020) and “My You” (2022), but not commercially.

He also participated in different collaboration albums, with songs including “Stay Alive” (2022), a theme song for “7Fates: Chakho,” a fantasy webtoon created in collaboration with BTS, and “Dreamers” (2022) for the official soundtrack of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
