World-class Soprano Sumi Jo is set to perform a concert in Los Angeles after an eight-year hiatus.
The concert, titled “Harmony for the Future,” will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 11, at the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles. Admission to the concert will be free of charge.
According to the Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles, the concert aims to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea alliance. Sumi Jo expressed her intentions ahead of the concert, stating, “At a time when we are overcoming the adversity of the pandemic and welcoming a new beginning, I want to convey the charm and passion of K-culture to the world while celebrating the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea alliance.”
While the concert is free, there will be a limit of two tickets per person. The Korean Cultural Center will distribute tickets through a computerized randomized lottery system. Ticket applications can be submitted through the Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles’ website (www.kccla.org) from 6 a.m. on July 21 to 6 p.m. on July 27.
Additionally, seniors aged 65 and older can make reservations by phone. The LA Korean Cultural Center will be accepting phone reservations from July 21 to July 26, with a maximum of two tickets per person. Reservations can be made by calling the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles at (323) 732-0700 or (213) 999-4932.
The concert will feature special performances by Hee Seo and Joo Won Ahn, principal dancers at the American Ballet Theater (ABT), one of the world’s top three ballet companies. In addition, there will be high-level traditional Korean music performances by pansori master singer Kicheol Wang and students from the National High School of Traditional Korean Arts.
