California Governor Gavin Newsom announced on June 30 the appointment of Nancy Lee, a former executive vice president at Walt Disney, to the University of California board of regents.
This marks the second Korean American appointment to the UC board of regents since Lark Park, who was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown in 2017.
Lee holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Georgetown Law Center, and she completed her MBA at MIT.
After completing her MBA, Lee worked at Goldman Sachs, National Geographic Partners, and Disney, where she served as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff to the Company’s Executive Chairman, Robert A. Iger. In this role, she led Disney’s content exchange and marketing, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
The position on the UC board of regents is an honorary and non-compensated position with a term of 12 years. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the State Senate.
