The new additions will join the first season’s star-studded cast of Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun and Gong Yoo, all of whom will be taking part in the upcoming season, too.
The announcement was made through Netflix’s in-person festival, “Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event” in Sao Paolo on Saturday featuring the cast and directors of popular shows, announcements about new shows and more.
“Squid Game” swept streaming service charts when it was released in 2021 and became a worldwide sensation, garnering critical acclaim and various awards. The survival drama series told the story of hundreds of cash-strapped contestants who participate in children’s games for a prize of $35.7 million (45.6 billion won).
The second season of “Squid Game” will start shooting in the latter half of this year. A release date has not been set yet.
