NetKAL, the network of Korean American Leaders, a group of the Council of Korean Americans (CKA), has announced that it will host a Korean Movie Night event at 5:30 p.m. on June 17, Saturday, on the lawn of Gloria Molina Grand Park (200 N. Grand Ave., LA) in front of LA City Hall.
The organizers will be screening the film “Parasite,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director.
“To celebrate Korean culture and community, we are hosting the inaugural summer outdoor screening of a Korean film,” the organizers said.
The Korean Movie Night will feature greetings from CJ ENM America CEO Angela Killoren, director and producer So Yun Um, and Noona’sNoonchi CEO Jeanie Chang.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to try Korean and fusion food and listen to K-pop, according to the organizers. Tickets can only be purchased through the website www.koreanmovienight.com.
Meanwhile, the organizers are planning to expand Korean Movie Night across the country, with the LA event set to become an annual occurrence.
“While Korean content is gaining popularity globally, there are currently no outdoor screening events in the U.S. that highlight Korean films,” the organizers stated.
They added, “We will host Korean Movie Nights in major metropolitan areas across the country.”
NetKAL is an organization of next-generation Korean American leaders. The members, who are in their 20s and 40s and active in various fields of society, network through regular meetings.
