Boy band Stray Kids sold 4.61 million copies of its latest album “★★★★★ (5-STAR)” within the first week of its release, the highest ever in the history of Korean pop music.

The band’s five-star third full-length album, released on June 2, sold 4,617,499 copies during the first week of its release, according to the band’s agency JYP Entertainment on Friday.

“Stray Kids has written itself down as the stars of a new history in the pop music scene with the record-high number of first-week sales in K-pop,” the agency said in a press release.

The success had been anticipated as pre-orders for “★★★★★” surpassed 5.14 million copies before its release, the highest number ever in K-pop history.

The boy band’s previous albums also saw positive sales figures, with Stray Kids’ achieving its first million-selling album with its second full-length album “Noeasy” in 2021. It sold over 1.67 million copies, followed by its EP “Oddinary” (2022), which sold 1.85 million copies, and “Maxident,” which sold over 3.42 million copies, making it the most-sold album from the boy band’s agency JYP Entertainment.

Stray Kids is set to hold fan meet and greets on July 1 and 2 at the KSPO Dome in southern Seoul. The second-day performance will be streamed live through Beyond LIVE.
