NCT’s Taeyong tops iTunes albums chart in 30 countries

Taeyong of NCT’s solo debut EP “Shalala” topped the iTunes Top Albums Chart in 30 countries worldwide, according to SM Entertainment on Tuesday.

The EP dropped Monday and marked the singer’s first official solo release, seven years after he debuted as a member of boy band NCT.

The 30 countries include Brazil, France, Russia, Mexico, Spain, Indonesia, Taiwan, Ukraine and others.

It also topped the Worldwide iTunes Albums Charts and Chinese music streaming platform QQ Music’s digital album sales chart.

The lead track of the same title also landed at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in 14 regions.

The EP has surpassed over 500,000 copies in pre-orders at the time of its release.

Taeyong, whose real name is Lee Tae-yong, debuted in 2016 as part of NCT’s subunit NCT U. He has been a regular member of the subunit NCT 127 (2016—), as well as SM Entertainment’s male supergroup SuperM (2019—) which consisted of members from the agency’s boy bands.
