Jisoo of Blackpink became the first-ever million-selling female solo K-pop singer with her album “ME,” the singer’s agency YG Entertainment said Tuesday.

The Blackpink singer’s first solo album sold 1.02 million copies less than a week after its release on Friday, making Jisoo the first female solo artist to do so in K-pop.

The two-track EP had already sold 875,149 copies on the first day of its release, which was not only the highest ever for a female solo K-pop singer for first-day sales, but also for overall sales.

The previous record was held by Lisa, also from Blackpink, with her solo album “Lalisa” (2021) that sold 730,000 copies during the first week, followed by Rose, again from Blackpink, who sold 440,000 copies of her solo album “R” (2021) during the first week.

“This makes Jisoo the only K-pop solo singer to have a million-selling album both as a female solo artist and as a part of a team,” YG Entertainment said.

“Jisoo’s solo project as the last member of the group comes as another valuable feat as Blackpink continues to grow its influence and lead the global music scene.”
