Andrew Jang, 35, a Korean American who was charged with illegally possessing a firearm in March of last year, has pleaded guilty.
On March 28, Jang pleaded guilty to second-degree firearms possession, according to the Queens police. At his sentencing hearing on April 28, the court will sentence Jang to three years and six months in prison and three years of post-release supervision, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors and the New York Police Department (NYPD) seized seven illegally manufactured (ghost gun) semi-automatic handguns, three rifles, one shotgun, one unassembled ghost gun part, four magazines, 2,000 rounds of ammunition, tools for making illegal firearms, and $65,000 in cash from Zhang’s home at 215 Place on Bayside last March following an investigation.
In addition to Mr. Chang, prosecutors also arrested four other individuals, including Sung Woo Jung, a Korean American resident of Flushing, and Kai Zhao and Michael Frankenfeld, on charges of illegal firearms possession and trading.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in an announcement of Jang’s guilty plea on Aug. 28 that she will “continue to work to remove deadly weapons from the streets of Queens.”
