Lotte Confectionery signs MOU with American Institute of Baking International

Lotte Confectionery signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the American Institute of Baking (AIB) International to better the quality of its food products.

Lotte Confectionery plans to inspect a total of 150 food plants worldwide, including the factories of its affiliates.

AIB International, founded in 1919, provides training and certification programs related to food-related inspection such as safety, quality management and process optimization.

AIB International inspected some 3,000 global brands including McDonald’s and Pepsico.

“We are glad to see Lotte Confectionery, which puts food safety at the top of its criteria, and AIB International work together,” said Lee Chang-yeop, president of Lotte Confectionery, in a statement on Tuesday. “We will strive to provide food to consumers who can be assured of its safety.”
