Miky Lee, vice chairwoman of CJ Group, received the Pillar Award from the U.S. Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Saturday in Los Angeles, according to CJ ENM on Sunday.

Chairwoman Lee, also known as Lee Mie-kyung, received the honor at Saturday’s Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala.

Lee is a key figure behind K-pop’s global success and “Parasite” (2019), the first foreign language film in history to win the Oscar for best picture. She also served as a production manager of other films released this year, including director Park Chan-wook’s “Decision to Leave” and director Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Broker.”

She founded CJ ENM, the conglomerate group’s entertainment arm, and played a leading role in Korea’s pop culture and content industry.

During her acceptance speech, Lee pledged to continue working on supporting a wide range of creators.

“I will strive to support creators, not just Koreans, but those all around the world who have creative messages, so they become widely known through the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ various programs,” she said.

Korean directors, including Park and Yoon Jong-bin, as well as actors Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Byung-hun, Jung Woo-sung, and Ha Jung-woo participated in the gala event.
