The white background symbolizes the purity and peace of the Korean people. The Taegeuk symbol in the middle describes the Yin and Yang theory. The stripes in the four corners are depicting the sky, land, fire, earthquake, wind, water and mountain.

The fundamentals lie in sky (on the upper left), land (lower right), water (upper right) and fire (lower left). The patterns essentially mean that the four stripe patterns are the detailed results of the changes and improvements of nature.

How fiercely did our forefathers fight to protect the flag that symbolizes their spirit? They yelled off the top of their lungs 72 years ago. “Hooray! Korea is free!”
