The northern region of Orange County is becoming home to a number of newly opening stores selling imported goods from South Korea.

Gyeongnam Trading USA Inc., a business founded by South Korea’s provincial government of South Gyeongsang, is hosting an opening party for Bravo Gyeongnam Market in La Mirada today.

The market will sell goods imported directly from Gyeongsang Province. The items on sale include food, craftwork and herbal medicine imported from South Gyeongsang Province’s 18 cities. The provincial government plans to host buyers in an effort to connect with them to explore possibilities of expanding its business.

Last month, South Jeolla Province also opened a temporary booth inside Buena Park’s Hannam Chain for an event to display and sell fishery products from Naju.

Hannam Chain in Buena Park and La Mirada’s Bravo Gyeongnam Market are about half a mile away from each other. The northern region of Orange County has developed a close relationship with its growing Korean-American population.

“Bravo Gyeongnam Market is the first store we opened for our provincial government to take the necessary steps towards creating a market in the U.S.,” Gyeongnam Trading USA Inc. chief Yong-soo Jeon. “La Mirada is an area that gives us geographic advantage as many Koreans reside in the northern districts of Orange County, so that’ll make it easier for us to advertise and increase our sales volume.”
