The Korean Investors and Traders Association (KITA) is launching its 2017 Internship-Scholarship Program to provide more employment opportunities to young Korean-Americans.

The program, entering its second year, is designed to help Korean college students in the United States better understand Korean businesses through formal work experience.

Participating businesses include Samsung C&T, Korean Air, Meritz Insurance, Hong Jin Crown, CJ Entertainment, OnDemandKorea, Hyundai Logistics, Chun-Ha Insurance and 14 other businesses looking to fill about 40 available positions.

All available positions are paid internships. Students who excel during their internship could potentially be employed while a few others will be granted scholarships.

“This year’s program will be bigger after such a big reception last year,” said KITA chairman Deok-jin Choi. “We hope that the talented Korean students in the U.S. could develop a better understanding of the Korean businesses.”

Students interested in applying can visit kita.com for more information, including the interview process and other employment information. The summer internship will be an eight-week program. Interns will work six hours a day for three days a week. The offices are primarily located in or around Los Angeles.

The program will be funded by Job Korea USA. All interns must be legally eligible to work in the U.S., while the pay will vary depending on the company.

KITA has generated approximately $90,000 in revenue through various businesses in the last two years and is now preparing to establish a scholarship foundation. Applications for these scholarships will be available soon.
