In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Korea Daily’s founding, the Kimbo Foundation is increasing its scholarships by $100,000, offering $2,500 to each of 212 scholars.
Happy Village and the Korea Daily, under the sponsorship of the Kimbo Foundation, will select the 2024 Kimbo scholars. Now in its 37th award ceremony, the Kimbo Foundation scholarship program is the largest for Korean-American students in the United States.
Since 2008, the Korea Daily has expanded the scholarship program nationwide, selecting scholars from all Korea Daily offices. Scholars are chosen from the Korean-American community as well as the Black and Hispanic communities.
The distribution of scholars includes 110 in Los Angeles, 20 in New York, 17 in San Francisco, 15 in Washington, D.C., 25 in Atlanta, 10 in Chicago, and 5 in Denver. To promote racial diversity, five scholars each will be selected from the Black and Hispanic communities.
