The main event of the Korea Conference connecting innovative Korean startups with investors in the U.S. kicks off today, August 23.

Now in its third year with sponsorship from the Korea Daily, the Korea Conference will be held over two days.

Following the official launch of MDR Club with a ceremony held at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades on August 22 as part of the two-day event, the Korea Conference’s main event will take place aboard a yacht at Marina del Rey today.

The MDR Club is a gathering of startups who participated in previous years’ events to share their experiences and mentor this year’s participants.

“The MDR Club is a key part of Korea Conference’s goal to grow into an event that is not a one-off, but one that is sustainable and produces solid outcomes,” said Jenny Chu, Founder and Chairperson of Korea Conference.

Creating a place for startups to network allows them to share knowledge and information, and this eventually leads to “relay growth,” said Chu.

The event was attended by more than 100 people, including Korean startups, advisory boards, and sponsors. Among the advisory board members are Jose Feliciano, owner of the English Premier League (EPL) club Chelsea, Jason Cowett, co-founder of Odyssey, a global investment firm specializing in the aerospace industry, Tom Lawrence, chairman of The Eden Club, an exclusive membership for the world’s wealthiest, Prince Lorenzo Medici of the Medici family of Florence, Italy, and Michael Riadi, advisor to Indonesia’s national company Lippo Group.

The Korea Conference will feature innovative startups from Korea, including OurBox, a startup for logistics innovation, Asleep, which analyzes sleep using only a smartphone microphone, The2H, which is creating ultra-immersive virtual reality, Contents Technologies, which is a leading innovation in music industry with technology, and Mvitro, which has innovative technology for blood glucose testing.

At the main event, the startups will introduce their companies and visions along with networking opportunities.
